Politics

P- What is a politician?
M- A person who defends society from individuals, by putting the common interests of all the citicens over the interests of few.
P- What about the rights of the few? What if a person is hurt to improve the well being of the rest?
M- We should consider the material but also the moral benefits for the society. Hurting one person to improve the well being of the rest would be a moral loss for everybody.
P- So, a politician should never accept such an action.
M- A moral drawback can often be hiden or balanced by mediatic or religious arguments. For example, the action can be kept secret so that causes no moral loss, or even, disguiss the action as a self-sacrifice for the society, the nation, the religion; so that becomes morally rewarding.
P- So politicians could lie for the good of society.
M- Yes, it can be a consequence of their role to pursue the common well being.
P- But also a fake politician could lie to protect the interests of few in front of the common interest.
M- Indeed.
P- So how can we distinguish politicians lying for one reason or for the other.
M- Generally, we cannot because a common benefit is almost in all cases a high benefit for few.
P- What a mess!
M- What an art!
